Wie zijn wij
In 2019 kwam het initiatief van een club Gieterse mensen om samen de 4 mei herdenking terug te brengen naar Giethoorn.
Door Corona is dit plan pas in 2022 voor het eerst tot uiting gekomen.
In de tussentijd is er niet stil gezeten, samen hebben zij het 4 Mei-monument bij de Begraafplaats in Giethoorn kunnen realiseren.
Een monument dat staat voor verbinding en vrijheid.
In 2023 werd naast de herdenking ook op 5 mei de bevrijding gevierd door een muzikaal festival.
Dit is zo goed bevallen dat deze traditie wordt voortgezet en hopelijk elk jaar uit zal breiden.
De Stichting
In december 2021 heeft het Comité zich omgevormd tot het bestuur ‘Stichting 4&5 mei Giethoorn’.
Deze Stichting heeft als hoofddoel de herdenking en bevrijding van Giethoorn voort te zetten.
